On Saturday October 3 the LHS marching band drove to Columbus to participate in the Columbus band competition. This competition has been a tradition of the LHS band for a long time and one of the judges said, “They should get an award just for being here.” After the two hour trip to Columbus, the band warmed up for an hour and then marched. The band and the colorguard earned a Division 1 rating, which is the highest rating (not the highest rank) you can receive in marching competition. The overall score of the band was 75.8 points.
The LHS band did not participate in the Columbus parade before the competition this year, however. The band could not because of band members participating in the volleyball and softball games that also took place the same day.
