Jeans, shirts, shoes and sweatshirts fill a closet underneath the northeast 4th floor stairs. The free clothing service is open to ALL student attending Lincoln High school. The idea for the closet came from two local volunteers, Barb Soloman and Tamara Cass, who noticed that kids were getting teased for not wearing brand name clothing items. The closet opened on the first day of school after the two volunteers spent over 500 dollars and their whole summer working on it. Students are allowed to get clothing from the closet before and after school or during lunch periods. To get access, a student can go to the counseling center and ask to see the closet or ask a teacher to take them to the closet.

Since the closet has opened about two dozen students have used it to get clothing for themselves. The sizes in the closet range and they may not all have sizes, BUT there is a whiteboard in the closet that they use to communicate with the volunteers to let them know that they need a smaller or bigger size. They ask, however, if you do use the closet to write a thank you note for the volunteers. “I think it’s important that the volunteers and people volunteering that its important to kids.” Sue Dutton, the school social worker states. There are pieces of paper in the closet for you to write your note.
