This year the Links Varsity Volleyball Team has 7 returning players: seniors Jaida JacksonAlivia Michalski, Emily Toman, Page RoachSammi Yelkin, Laney Brooks, and sophomore Maddie Swinnerton.

Coach Sydney Rychecky said, “We’re still kind of a work in progress, because of injuries, etc. I’ve had to switch some players’ positions and we just changed our defense. But we are slowly getting to where we need to be.”

The Links are an experienced team giving opposing teams a lot of trouble, but just falling short of multiple victories. Senior blocker Jaida Jackson has had a good season alongside her fellow five seniors. The Links had yet to grab that first win of the season, until senior night, the team got its first win against Omaha Northwest.

Jaida Jackson has the lead the team in kills and blocks this year, and she is also 3rd in blocks in the city according to the Lincoln Journal Star.

The Links took Benson to an intense 5 set match in Omaha, Thursday October 9th. The Links fell just 2 points shy of claiming their first win of the season. On Tuesday October 14th, the Lady Links got that first win over Omaha Northwest in a hard fought match, in which LHS won 3-1.

The Links just have three games plus the conference tournament on the 28th left of the 2014 season. The team is looking to build on its success and get a few more wins before the season comes to a close.
