With a team under construction, most coaches would be concerned for the playout of the year, but Softball Coach, Fred Simpson isn’t worried, “The season is going well, we started off this year with only 2 seniors, we’ve lost 7 players from last year, so we’re rebuilding, we’re under construction, but we’re doing pretty well right now and we’re getting into the flow of how the game should go for the new players but it’s going well.” Simpson said. His team won their first game against the Southwest Silverhawks, the score was 11 to 9.

When asked about the hardest opponent, Simpson said, “I’m going to say when we play Southeast, it’s a good school, a top five team.” He said that his team is doing well because of how hard all of the players are working, “Lauren Thuss is one of the seniors Taya Arkfeld and then our pitcher Kallie Robeson is doing a fine job for us this year. and a freshman that has come up for us this year is Cassandra Evans is doing well for us this year too.”

“Our goal is to win more games this year than last year and we won 5 games last year, but with a team under construction i think that’s going to be a lot of work, but i think we’re going to get there. I want it to be a goal every year to win more games than the last season.” Said Simpson.

On September 20th they beat the Arlington Eagles on Arlington’s home field. “We played Benson and and they only have like 9 players so it was kind of an easy game and it was fun because we don’t really win very often,so that was nice. That was our second win. We play them again tomorrow in a double header so hopefully that’ll be two more wins for us.” Said Players Taya Arkfeld and Lauren Thuss. And win they did, Cassie Evans picked up the win in the circle and Kallie Robeson hit a grand slam, a home run with the bases loaded, Every players made a contribution toward the Win. Another Lincoln High job well done.
