Lincoln High wrestling made it to state this year. Four wrestlers went and earned 16th place at the tournament beating out Lincoln North Star, Lincoln East, Lincoln Northeast, and Pius X. Junior Wesley Dawkins won districts but ended up getting third place at state. He was glad to beat Nathan Rodriguez from Millard South 6-0 who had previously beat him in the season. “That was my favorite moment, beating the kid that beat me,” Dawkins said.
Although Dawkins didn’t meet his intended goal this year he has his senior year to win state. Junior Aiden Arnold earned second in state finishing his season with a 35-5 win-lost. He lost his last match to champion John Feeney of Omaha Northwest who won state. “I’ve never actually faced him before, but I think his goal was to beat me, because he was out the entire season and everyone was just talking to me about him because I was ranked number one for a while” Arnold said.
Junior Hunter White also qualified for state for the third time and Junior Terry Jones qualified for state for the first time. Jones had an injury this season but managed to come back. All of these students have next year to go to state again and win for Lincoln High.
