Earlier this school year, principal Dr. Mike Wortman informed students, staff, and families that he would be retiring at the end of the year. The Lincoln Public Schools District Offices and Lincoln High School staff had a very important decision to make about who would be fit to follow in his footsteps. On Tuesday, March 17th that decision was announced. Lincoln High’s new principal will be current associate principal Mark Larson. Larson will begin his new position beginning on July 1st 2015, and he couldn’t be more humble for the opportunity. “I love this place a lot and my goal is just to see it be what it can be,” Larson said.
Larson now faces the transition and changes at Lincoln High School concluding this year and beginning next year with a strong staff by his side. “The most important thing as far as a smooth transition is for us to finish this year strong, give our kids the best instruction, the best ‘us’ that they deserve,” Larson said to staff. “So let’s do that, and I’m really looking forward to working with you guys for a long time.” Larson holds a lot of promise and high hopes for the future of LHS.
“One of the main things I’m going to do next year is watch and listen to students and staff and parents about what LHS means to them and what they want to see this place be and then go about implementing those changes in the future” Larson said. Finishing the last quarter of the 2014-2015 school year, Lincoln High School wishes Wortman farewell. and Larson good luck.
